4 Healthy Benefits Of Drinking Water

It’s no secret that Water is very essential for all living things (man, animals, plants and even micro organisms).

For we humans the amount of water we need to consume daily depends on the following factors;

  1. Age
  2. Weight
  3. Sex
  4. Climate we live in and
  5. Activity level

What is water ?

Water is a clear liquid, without colour or taste, that falls from the sky as rain and is necessary for animal and plant life:

Now Here are Some of the benefits of drinking water;

1. Drinking water helps regulate the human body temperature

2. Drinking water helps flush body waste and toxins

3. Water helps increase brain power

4. Drinking water helps prevent headache caused by dehydration

I know we all have heard that water helps in regulating the body temperature

But how does it happen

Water removes heat from the body when a person sweats which helps the person regulate body temperature

The real thing is this ; when the body temperature is hot more blood flows to the capillaries which causes the sweat glands to get dilated (expanded) releasing salty transparent fluid we call perspiration

Water that is stored in the middle layers of the skin comes to the skin’s surface as sweat when the body heats up. As it evaporates, it cools the body.

When one sweats the body heat is used to evaporate the sweat from the skin which leaves a cooling effect .

So if you don’t take in enough water there is no way the body would produce the right amount of sweat needed for thermoregulation

Sweat is the natural cooling system source of your body. And since water is a key ingredient of your sweat, your body needs enough water to properly regulate your body’s temperature through perspiration.

Some scientists have also suggested that when there is too little water in the body heat storage increases and the individual is less able to tolerate heat strain.

Water helps in flushing out body wastes and toxins through sweat and urination.

Drinking enough water regularly helps prevent kidney stones and urinary tract infection.

Water is also known to help in dissolving kidney stones if already present.

The human brain which consist mostly of water (about 75%) works more better when the human body is properly hydrated. Stating hydrated is important for the body’s health just as it is also critical to brain function

BSX Technogies listed out 4 ways which dehydration affects the brain which are

  1. Dehydration affects our mood
  2. Dehydration reduces our cognitive and motor skills
  3. Dehydration makes us more sensitive to pain
  4. Dehydration affects our memory.

Water is very important for proper functioning of the brain. In addition to increasing brain power, drinking water also helps prevent and relieve headaches often caused by dehydration.

Dehydration headache usually occurs when the human body loses essential fluids to function properly.

It can cause the brain to temporarily shrink from fluid loss. This mechanism causes the brain to pull away from the skull, causing pain and resulting in a headache

I know most times drinking just water tends to be difficult so I suggest you can add little amount of lime into it to improve it’s taste

All of those are definitely good reasons to drink water. Although I have to admit when I lose water I actually have a crazier time with the cold than with the hot. I get cold more easily.
